Before you pay

  1. Check the licence yourself. Find the company on the official register and match the licence number. If it is new, ask for the number and check again later.
  2. Get the itinerary in writing. Each day, each lodge, the vehicle type and what is included: permits, park entry, meals, drinks, guide and fuel.
  3. Ask whose name is on the permits. Gorilla and chimpanzee permits are issued per person by the wildlife authority. Ask for a copy once they are bought.
  4. Understand the deposit and refunds. Agree in writing how much is due when, and what you get back if you cancel or a permit date changes.
  5. Pay the company, not a person. Pay into an account in the company's name, by card or bank transfer, and keep every receipt.
