Overview
Births in Uganda are registered with NIRA. Hospitals issue a birth notification, which must be stamped by the hospital administrator; births in the community are certified by the town clerk or sub-county chief. The parent completes the Birth Declaration Form and the birth is entered in the register, after which you can apply for the certificate.
Who can apply
Parents or guardians of children born in Uganda. Ugandans abroad apply through NIRA, not through embassies.
